Vehicle Access to Pedestrian Precinct Project

May 2008

The Vehicle Access to Pedestrian Precinct Project was initiated to improve security and safety on the Curtin Bentley campus by restricting vehicle access to high-traffic pedestrian areas.

Electronic and fixed bollards will be installed to control vehicular access to the Pedestrian Precinct. The bollards are to remain up at all times unless required for vehicle access.

The first electronic bollard will be installed between Buildings 207 and 301 and will be in operation from May 2008. Other electronic bollards will be installed at other points on campus as the plan progresses.

Students will not be able to drive a vehicle in the pedestrian Precinct at any time, unless it is to access an ACROD parking area. No vehicular access will be permitted to the Pedestrian Precinct between 12:00pm and 2:00pm, Monday to Friday during normal semester teaching weeks or exam periods except for Emergency Services, Security, Campus Services and parking for people with disabilities.

Curtin University staff members requiring access to the pedestrian Precinct should complete a CARDAX – Electronic Building Access Request Form.

Couriers, regular delivery drivers and contractors should contact Security for more information.

Any other requests, questions or comments should be directed to the Manager of Security at 1300 00 4444 / 9266 4444 or security@curtin.edu.au
